Irish Bangers

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with hearty bangers nestled in veggies for a festive, traditional Irish meal!
Ingredients
- (1 package) Bratwurst Sausages
- ¾ - 1 lb (or more) potatoes, sliced into thin rounds
- 1 med onion
- ½-¾ head green cabbage (or more), sliced or shredded
- sliced carrots and/or other veggies
- Choose your seasonings: thyme, parsley, sage, rosemary, black pepper, nutmeg, garlic powder, bay leaf, mustard, caraway seeds
Directions
Note: for sausage flavor, we suggest: Bratwurst, Dirk's Tuscan Rosemary, or Garlic Kielbasa.
- In a large skillet, heat CDF sausage on med high, turning often until slightly browned. Transfer to a plate.
- In the same skillet, layer potatoes, cabbage, onion and whatever else (2 layers of each).
- Add ¾-1 cup of water or broth to pan, along with seasoning: salt, pepper, thyme, other. Cover so no air escapes.
- Cook/steam these veggies for about 15 minutes and then add the whole sausage back in with any drippings.
- Add a bit more water or broth (approx. ½ cup). Cover and cook until veggies are just right and sausages are cooked through!
- Cut the sausages into chunks, return them to the pan, and enjoy this seasonal and hearty meal!
