Irish Bangers
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with hearty bangers nestled in veggies for a festive, traditional Irish meal!

Ingredients

  • (1 package) Bratwurst Sausages
  • ¾ - 1 lb (or more) potatoes, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 med onion
  • ½-¾ head green cabbage (or more), sliced or shredded
  • sliced carrots and/or other veggies
  • Choose your seasonings: thyme, parsley, sage, rosemary, black pepper, nutmeg, garlic powder, bay leaf, mustard, caraway seeds

Directions

Note: for sausage flavor, we suggest: Bratwurst, Dirk's Tuscan Rosemary, or Garlic Kielbasa.

  1. In a large skillet, heat CDF sausage on med high, turning often until slightly browned. Transfer to a plate. 
  2. In the same skillet, layer potatoes, cabbage, onion and whatever else (2 layers of each).
  3. Add ¾-1 cup of water or broth to pan, along with seasoning: salt, pepper, thyme, other. Cover so no air escapes.
  4. Cook/steam these veggies for about 15 minutes and then add the whole sausage back in with any drippings.
  5. Add a bit more water or broth (approx. ½ cup). Cover and cook until veggies are just right and sausages are cooked through!
  6. Cut the sausages into chunks, return them to the pan, and enjoy this seasonal and hearty meal!
